This is barely related, but I vaguely remember reading this Darkwing Duck comic as a child which was "dark" (Like not bloody or anything, just somewhat serious) and rather than the usual rogues gallery the villains were these alien (ducks?Alien something, he went to space at times).

I don't think it has at all, not on the show that the fandom is making every little joke into a huge deal, show is 3 episodes into its 3rd season and still looking rock solid.
