I'll admit to being totally baffled by UC. I loved Primer, but the new one seemed like it was about a mickey that psychologically bonded you with a pig that made you want to quit your job, but I just KNEW that could not be what this was about.

I hear the Black Sabbath and the Stooges in this band (though Stooges aren't mentioned in the film), but - really - there didn't feel like too many antecedents for Politicians In My Eyes and the couple of other songs I've listened to so far. David Hackney seems like a legit, honest-to-god visionary for rock music.

You know, when I see my words quoted back to me like that, they do sound kind of unreasonable.

Yeah, they all have moments, for sure. Just seem sort of vague and wistful and a little wallow-y overall. I still think the Strokes and Vampire debuts pretty much crush anything else they've been able to come up with (however good all of it's been). Kanye's new one I've only spun a couple times and maybe the "future

The misogyny comes part an parcel with Ye. I have no problem with a dude working out his ignorance in a song. I guess by "fun" I more mean "am I glad I'm listening to this?"

Agree on most of Fantasy (exception of a couple of the singles and the finale which I think is one of kanye's high points).

It's a clown penis on my nose, but it serves the same purpose.

Why don't you get a sense of humor and lick my balls, Paul.

I would describe most of RAM as dreamily pleasant and one stone classic.

Why are artists typically responsible for fun-as-hell albums - Vampire Weekend,  Kanye West, Queens of the Stone Age, the Strokes, Daft Punk - making such intentionally not-fun albums?

CAVEAT: this movie is not as good as Ghostbusters. But virtually nothing is.

I think the IDEA is a stoned one (what if the world ended in a massive fiery apocalypse and we were at a party?) but the execution is more disciplined. To be sure, there's narcotics a'plenty, but once the sky high concept kicks in, it's basically Ghostbusters with dollops of hash.

I did not come away from the movie with a sense of 'green-ness' on the part of the directors. Maybe I haven't seen enough movies. I thought, for first-timers (or any-timers), they did a pretty good job of mixing "dude, totally" with bottom-rung demonic theology/special effects. I hope they do more.

Also Quadron's new one. I still listen to their 2010 debut on a weekly basis. Between Queens and Quadron, my Q's are about to double in size.

    HEY T-bone

    Awwwwwwwwwwwww MAN!

I do hope there will be bobbies.

Dude is still one of the best interviewers around. I always like the surprise coming from more established figures who, at show's end, are surprised at how painless an 'internet thingy' can be.

I took his manifesto to be less a grumpy rant about new things and more of a call to interact with reality. Movies and video games in and of themselves are both subjectively good or bad visual entertainments — but going to a movie means interacting with and being near your fellow man while playing video games often

I think there's some quality Not World Changing But Still Decent 70s Rock on that album.
