I was going to mention Sigourney Weaver's absence on the poster as well, and her role (even Rick Moranis') was more pivotal than Ernie's.

I don't have an exact answer, but I'll take a shot: in addition to your 1) and 2) probably being part of it, I'd add 3) No one knew who the hell Erine Hudson was, not that the average person knew who Harold Ramis was (and I say this as a big, at-least-up-till-Groundhog Day Ramis fan), and possibly and least…

I kinda liked Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which was meta-quirky and supposed to be a comeback (both for him and Pre-Iron Man) Robert Downey Jr. I must also be the last to know that they're reuniting for Iron Man 3, so I guess that's something.

I'm still mad because the film never made certain who The Man really was. (Turns out, years later, it was Eugene Levy.)

On a somewhat related and more tragic note, Richard Bright (Al Neri in all three Godfather films [a good answer to a "Who was in all three movies?" trivia question] and, interestingly, the bad guy in the hip-hop comedy classic [not really] Who's the Man?), was hit by a bus in the same NYC neighborhood in 2006.

This is the part where someone goes, "I'm trying to FORGET Franklin and Bash."
