Don't know why I remembered/recognized this reference, but the actress who plays the grandmother Lydia Adams (Regina King) lies to is Marla Gibbs, King's co-star back on 227. And Gibbs' character keeps calling Detective Adams "Brenda", which was King's characters name on 227.
