Yeah, to echo the reviewer's point, that blood-for-blood thing struck me as somewhat Islamophobic. I don't think it actually was, necessarily, but it all just seemed too touchy a topic to handle so ham-fistedly.

Ha! Saw that, too. I was sure it was just an extra hamming it up for his brief screentime. A little too noticeable, tho.

There have been a few "making of" videos this season where they talked about the artistic choices they made in direction… like repeating the introductory panning shot in the karaoke bar at the end, after everyone's been killed. And how they ended one episode with a top-down shot of Nora and then did a 180 degree turn…

I remember when Simpsons had a throwaway gag about wolverines and Lisa went to whatwolverineseat.com (or something like that). I immediately went online and lo, it was real and it was glorious. God bless Simpsons for their artistic integrity.

Well, they do make the point in that scene with teenage Alcide (great casting with that actor, from a looks perspective). Shifters tend to be loners, but the strength of the wolves is that they put pack first. So yeah, shifters are like a billion times better, but wolves are still around because they take care of…

I'd always been under the impression that Craster's sacrifice of his boys was just superstition. I assumed he was safe from the Others thus far because he's so far south, near the Wall, and because the Others don't seem all *that* interested in murdering people. So basically it was just coincidence.
Regarding the toilet, if they're getting their water from wells they almost certainly have a septic system. There's no municipal water involved, it's all self-contained. Pretty common for rural areas.
That's exactly what I was thinking! But it sounds like from the dialog between Maggie and suicide-blond that they were doubtful the zombies were curable, but went along with their dad anyways. Suicide-blond said something like, "when has dad ever admitted he was wrong?"
Andrew Lincoln's affected accent is absolutely not Midwestern. Or western rural. Hershel's accent is pretty much the best one for that region, if you ask me.
Well, this *is* the zombie apocalypse. You take calories where you can get them. If you ask me, the more grease, the better.
@avclub-638c1a4f003b46aad4aa5cf3f424d215:disqus … the book World War Z is basically all about that, how humanity comes back from a zombie apocalypse. They use luring tactics and handheld combat and all that good stuff as they slowly reclaim the planet from billions of zombies.
