A clear step down from the pilot for me. Its intended emotional impact replicated the stronger emotional beats of the pilot: last week, Walt's visit to the wife reminds him of his own wife's death; this week, his visit to the mother and father remind him of his own relationship with his daughter.

Let me recommend the Longmire pilot. It's a good, careful, character-based crime show. Body-of-the-week but with a deeper interest in both character and setting.
