When I saw Merle last week in the upcoming previews for this episode, I was pissed off because that early return meant my theory that he was being saved up for a big, comic-inspired return wasn't true.
The first episode of Parks I haven't been head over heels in love with in a long time; I think my hopes were way too high because it was a Halloween episode though.

Was Ray's red nose/corncob pipe look supposed to be an allusion to something? The way they shot the scene (especially when he's holding up the baby in the police spotlight) made it seem like the punchline itself was a reference that went over my head.
Wait, did Shane really need to sit down Rick and convince him to stick around and continue to give his son blood to survive? Are we supposed to believe that Rick was ready to leave his dying son to go let his wife know what the situation is, especially since Shane was right there to do the same thing on his own? …
