2 girls, 1 crayon

and let's not forget the Diarrhea songs…. as in, "if you're driving in your Chevy and you feel something heavy…"

oh, and feel free to comment with the obligatory Michael Richards joke

Stand-up
I completely agree with everyone who thinks that this technology would be good in the sense that it would cut down on the "hundreds of digital screens raised in the air" thing at concerts, but I have to add that I hope it eventually turns up in comedy clubs, too. It must suck being a stand-up and knowing

He calls him a "sports atheist", because while Simmons is an unapologetic Boston sports homer, Klosterman doesn't claim to be a fan of any particular team in any sport. He's just a fan of the games themselves, without any particular rooting interest. I half expected him to allude to this when the interviewer started

Just for the hell of it, here's some favorites

Another Philly sports fan checking in…. I have to both agree and disagree with the OP. There definitely are a decent amount of sports fans out there who are pretty humorless (at least on the topic of sports), but I wouldn't characterize them as an overwhelming majority. One thing OP mentioned that I do notice is the

You guys are all wrong. The saddest song on that album is definitely "Find The River".

'90's were definitely better. People have already mentioned all the great shows (Beavis, Daria, etc.). And having been born in 1983, I never really watched MTV at anytime where 2/3 or more of the programming was actual videos, but at least back in 1994 the channel was still making an effort to live up to it's name.

Tyra
Calling Tyra Banks the "titular lunatic" is a fantastic unintended pun.

Commercials
Genevieve wins with that Clapper reference. Of all the generation gap indicators out there, few things trump TV ads. You can still hear Nirvana on rock radio stations, you can still catch Saved By The Bell reruns on SOME channel, and HBO will always pick two months of each year to have Shawshank

@HipsterDBag: though I'm not the "sneaking out" type, I consider myself part of the "thank God I never fell into that trap" set - or perhaps the "thank God I'm not GOING to fall into that trap" set; I'm only 27, but pretty anti-monogamy - yet I still didn't find that commercial the least bit amusing.

That reminds me of my favorite Super Bowl related e-mail that Bill Simmons reposted in his column yesterday:

Chili Peppers always springs to mind for me, although I suppose it's more like Kiedis writes his best material right after he kicks.

Towelie pretty much nailed it.

Oh yea, and I meant to add that this same friend now questions the validity of my Philadelphia sport fanship whenever I show a lack of awareness about myopic offseason acquisitions the teams make. So I guess it's all relative.

"Fan" means different things to different people
This probably isn't the first time I realized that pop culture - and more specifically, music - was taking up more of my brain space than other people, but it's the clearest thing that comes to mind….

Just sayin'
All things considered, Chinese Democracy was better.

He's in the best thing in the NRA as far as I'm concerned.
