It got some laughs out of me - partner and Houlihan, angry trout, Britta's camera errors, Britta's outside-the-box medical theories, etc.

Not necessarily their all-time low, but I think the show gives you the worst hour of their week. Not always, but it's more of a "This is the bad part of Hannah's life."
Yeah, I mean, it's a show about people at their low points - getting there, being there, etc. I think it's really sitting in that mood this season and getting what it can out of it.
While this wouldn't be true of most shows, I like that the characters are spinning out from each other. It works thematically, and I think it cuts against my inclination to compare it to other comedies.
I'm not sure I agree with putting Girls, at any point, in the "cringe comedy" genre, or slipping into something cringe-y but not comedy. It's not a cover-your-eyes kind of awkwardness lately, with the exception of maybe the Marnie singing plot. It's not a sort of giggling at an identifiable embarrassment at least…
And it's not an incorrect criticism of Girls, it just seems to be disproportionately directed at Girls, which is what makes it weird.
I've found that I like the second season a lot more than I liked the first season, although I have a suspicion that if I went back and watched Season 1 again, it'd catch up. I just needed a little more time to get to know these characters. And I think that it helps me understand Hannah by uncentering the show. It…
The Three Stooges?
Otm Shank!
Yeah, I mean, give it twenty years before we have to worry about that. That's not even an exaggeration, is it?
At this point, I think, I just have such a bottomless well of goodwill for Community that I'm not able to think critically about it. I laugh at the like-a-jokes, briefly realize that something's wrong, and blindly go on. But really, I'd need it to be openly offensive this season to get mad about it, or apparently,…
In part, too, because I always kind of thought those costumes were to impress Jeff.
They explained it twice. The line works on its own, but Abed making it about movies instead of history is at least a new joke. Jeff just explains the original line. It's not the only time they step on their jokes this year.
I think you should try a purely objective review, based on quantifiable facts. "This week's Community was 22:14, which is a slightly extension over last week's, which ran only 21:58. There were 31 scenes, 17 of which had at least four members of the study group."
I think the same gag would have been fine without effects. Pierce is shocked, yelps, and falls off the chair. Gerald Ford-style.
What the show was about, or WHEN the show was about?
Alone, that's right. But together, Nick is definitely Bert in their friendship. The one with weird habits and unable to relax and be cool, while Schmidt grins throughout and needles his pal.
Liquor. Not whiskey, gin, vodka, tequila, or anything so specific. That's what Nick brings to his party.
I'm a fan of her awkwardly trying to cross in front of that weird old man last week.
Who invited him? I'm going to assume that he's there as Nick's friend.
