I think it's more just a sign that they put the Enterprise in danger way more than the station.  The writers had a good way to find drama otherwise, crashed runabouts were pretty handy for that.

It's nice to see the Romulans back.  It's weird that DS9 got so much more mileage out of these guys than TNG, just another case of DS9 being better at everything.

I was lucky enough to of age for action figures just as DS9 was coming out and TNG was well established.  Almost all the characters I got were from later season TNG and early DS9.
