I like how Shadow of the Colossus gives you a galloping horse that moves quickly enough to be satisfying, but makes the game world so expansive that you're still forced to do a lot of beautiful sightseeing on your way to the next fight.

Even with save states, I've never even bothered with that. I've gotten the attack scarf with 30 jumps, but 100 seems like it'd be a chore.

I never even reached him playing it on the original console, but with instant save states you can really optimize your characters and level up well. I was even able to beat the Final Fantasy style bonus boss without breaking a sweat.

I liked Super Mario RPG as a kid, but I *love* it as an adult with an emulator and instant save states. Not exactly cheating, but definitely playing the game differently from how it was designed to be played.
