honestly, the second one's the perfect brain-dead post-9/11 hee-hee-who-cares action film. all others don't quite know what they want to be (whether it be legitimately-bad-zombie-thriller-diller or the aforementioned committee-approved stupid-by-numbers action film), and therefore suck.

the riffs go the farthest in making every song sound the same. really, i don't get the praise at all; the album's awful "pacing" makes it a chore to listen to straight through, the mix is weird (the guitars sound strangely neutered, like they used 10w practice amps with mid, treble and reverb turned down all the way)…

y'need a bit of an oirish singer thing going to get the rhythm right, but commendable

at least she's not so aggressively annoying with her particular brand of pop-singer schtick as a lot of those motherfuckiers popular nowadays. ridiculous cgi tigers and weird lips trump some meat-suit shit, always.

at this point, dexter really is the most pretentious inversion of criminal minds on television. if it'd just cut the shit (and the faux-serialization) it could be a fun, hay-the-killer-kills-the-killers no-stakes show it truly is and wants to be. and it's not like michael c. hall wouldn't still get awards show nods,…
