I can't speak for the chinese discounts but for my respective ethnicity, I do get shop/restaurant owners excited when they find out I'm one of them. I'm not sure if I get a discount but they always give me a little extra food on the side.

I would've told them, "Hell ya. Go spring on the fancy pair of chopsticks" then throw them out after one use.

I didn't get as much casual racism until I moved from the West to the South (and this was fairly recent)

"Can we retire the stock characters those roller-skating moms were filling though"

RIP Selfie

If that's all you gathered from it then you weren't paying much attention.

I highly recommend his memoir. It's refreshing to have a voice such as Eddie Huang in pop culture these days. While I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable about hip hop and sneakers, Huang described the experience of growing up as an Asian American these days in a way I've never been able to relate with until now. He's

I saw no such Bamford in either episode

The thing about stereotypes is that these are constructs that other people put upon groups to dehumanize them. While a lot of asian families put emphasis on academics they are certainly not the only ones. If you see the stereotype and nothing else then that's on you.

Upset that they couldn't find a way to include her in the episode. Not even have Peggy look at a locket with a picture of Angie gorging on some cake in it before she jumped out of the plane. Lame.

I'm just impressed that it sold out. Must be a good movie!

Yeah I remember that. I'm guessing the fact that he's on some new show now has something to do with his absence but it'd still be nice to see him.

Disappointed at the b-squad version of the Howling Commandos. It was easy to like the characters from The First Avenger. At least it wasn't Kenneth Choi's character of Jim Morita that got killed off. He was my favorite of the commandos and hopefully when Agent Carter gets turned into an ongoing show we'll see more

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed (but not surprised) at the redshirting of certain characters. At least Marvel is being consistent.

"They have a playfully flirty dynamic that suggests Peggy wouldn’t mind taking that red mustache for a joyride one day."

She'll actually be doing a lot of her fight scenes while standing behind couches and carrying shopping bags/a purse in front of her.

You should really give his memoir a read. Never have I been so thankful to have a representative voice such as his for fellow Asian Americans. I back Eddie Huang completely.

I'm sorry, I didn't get that. Maybe I could understand it more if it was said by a native speaker. OH WAIT

I liked Firefly alright but especially after reading that type of dialogue I'm certain that we don't need that to be resurrected ever again.

That's not really a fair comparison. Whedon consults on the other Marvel movies AND has to take all of them in consideration when working on the Avengers.
