i'm really lukewarm on sleater-kinney in general, but the woods is a behemoth of a record.  i'd rank the hot rock a distant second, then dig me out, then i'd continue to arbitrarily rank records until my blog has amassed a million followers, and so on.

yeah, i was like, wow, how long has this been out?  because i've definitely legally owned a copy for a couple months now, haven't i?

nowhere, really. keep sk's the woods, bratmobile's pottymouth, and all the pj harvey albums in your record collection and you're pretty much all set AND you don't have any mediocre records.

oh, please, kathleen hanna, tell us more about how great and influential you are.  don't want anybody to forget about kathleen hanna and bikini kill now, like these are things that can't stand on their own merits.  make another allusion to ian mackaye and fugazi like you are equal to their worth. feminism!  pussy

"forcing the end" is the painfully bad one.  "darwin's eye" has, if i recall correctly, that one great scene where frank talks to emma's father on the phone briefly that justifies the entire ridiculous subplot; also it's a gleefully meanspirited take on "the wild & the innocent".

omerta is great.  at around this point in the series it became a free for all - below @avclub-ef7d8ff636c7f5e86f5e63b5acfd2859:disqus made reference to the minimalist arc that barely coheres throughout the season, but after season two the plot is irrelevant.  love it or hate it, omerta is actually the first episode
