@avclub-41e23e24ee2670c4128cd7e5e5ee42ab:disqus Holy shit, I had heard of the Rampart scandal in passing but I hadn't ever taken the time to read into it. That's pretty unbelievable.

Exactly. That was an example of Vic saying the crassest, most aggressively awful thing he could think of just to get a rise out of Kavanaugh. I don't know how you could dislike that line.

@avclub-a171d9b078d8fd668b699188db001042:disqus If I remember correctly, David Rees Snell (who played Ronnie) was a friend of Shawn Ryan who hadn't done much before The Shield. He mostly was a background character for the first few seasons and didn't really come to any sort of prominence until the fourth season or so.

@avclub-90a5da808b7409c044aac94d490e7f0d:disqus I always say that while I can recognize that The Wire is probably "the best" television show I've ever seen, The Shield is probably my favorite.

@avclub-f121d09285898f1c66d66f1e6f0455a6:disqus One of my favorite things about the show was that Locke just ended up being a regular guy wishing he was important and getting used by everyone around him. Then he's literally used when his body gets hijacked.

I feel like I post this same thing every time I post about comics, but I'm a DC fan who's WAY behind on things. I just read Batman: War Drums, where Stephanie Brown becomes Robin.

The last time Michael Bay and The Rock got together produced one of the best action movies of the 90s.

I've been watching a fair amount of Boy Meets World recently. ABC Family runs somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-20 episodes every morning and it's become my routine to watch while I get ready for work.

@avclub-aa8199204bbd84f584fe5957410e9e71:disqus I feel like most of the chatter I hear about Cell is negative, but I'm a big fan. It has an interesting twist on a standard zombie story and the ending was really brutal, emotionally speaking. I'm pretty sure I cried, but I'm a pretty easy cry, so that might not be

Other King novels with solid endings:
Carrie
'Salem's Lot
The Shining
The Dead Zone
Cujo
The Green Mile
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
The Dark Tower Series (not a popular opinion, I know)
Cell

@avclub-ecbdad96460f85751944de9d6c2d50fe:disqus The eighth is Icon (I think). If I remember correctly he had some sort of knowledge of intergalactic law and is acting as their lawyer.
So we have Flash (Barry Allen), Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (John Stewart) and Hawkgirl on trial, Hawkman there for

@avclub-1faab713327e700e42d81a14cb4b60ba:disqus I know what you mean. I remember LOVING that X-Men show as a kid, but I tried to go back and watch it on Netflix recently. It has aged very poorly.

I believe that you are correct. Basically, they would do it like Marvel but in the reverse order. They establish Superman, then the League, and then they spin the individual characters off into their own movies.

I found out I had cancer back in 2009 and while it was low on the priority list, making it to the Lost finale was definitely on the list.

I'm WAY behind on my DC and reading it chronologically. I've read the first couple of Rucka Wonder Woman trades and think it's fantastic. People are saying the current iteration is even better, so I can't wait to get there.

@avclub-3158896b83bbf401523f27e5962f58dd:disqus And there's nothing better than Aukerman as a Never Not Funny guest. Pardo + Aukerman = comedy gold.

I definitely agree about the "New No-Nos" bit. They're always funny, but that first time…man, I'm not sure if I've ever laughed harder. The problem now is that the surprise is gone, and surprise is crucial for a bit like that.

I'll give you Tootsie Rolls. They're damn delicious.

You should check him out in Malcolm. He's hilarious, and the show itself never quite got the credit it deserved, in my opinion.

It's like @Dikachu:disqus said. Malcolm freaks out because he has no scholarships and doesn't know how he's going to pay for college, and Lois gives him a really great speech about how he's going to be president someday, but if he doesn't have to work hard for it then he'll end up entitled and won't be a very good
