*fires gun into the air in the pouring rain*

Ha, I wondered that too when that movie came out! I was hoping it was the same kind of Cold War thriller as Wargames, but I never got around to watching it.

Man, I love the Internet sometimes.

Ha, you don't think he was sleazy? Well, maybe smarmy? Or "Dabney Coleman-esque." No one else oozes that particularly bad-guy charm quite the way he does!

Ha, the whole thing on "Falcon's Island" is pretty funny. He shows them a silly dinosaur film and basically says: "Oh well, our time is up. Time to die."

I loved Falcon. Just the name worked for him, you know? "Aw, I see your wife still picks your ties." He just waltzes into the war room and sasses Coleman…not an easy feat.

"Get out."

Those are good ones! I seem to always spot Greenland Maximum and Middle East Heavy.

Ha ha, you're right! ! I remember trying to pause the film on a shitty VCR to write down the names of all the launch patterns.

Very nice piece…I'm really enjoying these articles this week!

This is a really good point and something I haven't considered. The movie has such a quiet opening (after the blaring credits, of course). Things are pastoral. The fades are slow. I was haunted by those rhythms for the longest time as a kid.

It's my favorite film and I have yet to see it this way. Hoping I can really soon, somewhere.

*GATED REVERB PHIL COLLINS POWERHOUSE DRUM FILL*

"I think of a Marine, and take away reason and accountability." *Makes devilish eyebrow movement*

But the joke always works! Along with any quote from that courtroom scene. My personal favorite: "WHO'S GONNA DO IT? YOU? YOU, LIEUTENANT WEINBERG?" Man, he just takes a shit right on poor Weinberg there, doesn't he?

Ooooooooh, very nice. Forgot about that one. "Ashes and diamonds, foe and friend, we were all equal in the end." Waters at his most sincere and expressive in that late-era vocal style of his.

Ugh. It really is. The recycled animation just kills me.

Loved this piece, very nice work! I grew up with this show and The Transformers and all of that shit.

I love that, too. Everything he and Hanks do in this film is pretty damn good.

Ha…man, just thinking about how he does that makes me laugh out loud here at work!
