Which one had the monster eyebrows?

Devastator was the best! My friend went out to get a Megatron, and I settled on Shockwave. Ha ha, the shock was on him when the Megatron was the shittiest toy of all time, and Shockwave fucking rocked!

Man, you are pretty right on about the best picture stuff during the 80s. Just looked at a list, and it is mostly tripe. Things didn't get good again until Silence of the Lambs and Unforgiven in 92/93. But I still think Amadeus in 1985 was one of the best movies of the decade.

But why does he still live at home?

You win one Internet, sir. Pick it up from Marco from Tropoja. Good luck.

But what about racist-ass Mellie Gibson?

Yes! I commented above about Williams' performance. It's just so genuine and kick-ass.

I think "masterful" is a bit of a stretch, sure. But I was under the impression that the film is decently regarded and has grown in esteem over the past decade or so to the point where it's seen as a decent prime-era Spielberg film (bright lights, family, clanking sound, close-ups) and a very good Hooper film. I think

I just want to drop in quickly and say that this made my day. It's a shitty day, and this made me laugh. Thank you. *clown suddenly attacks me*

Ha, good point! CBS seems to have a pretty good late night lineup now—I really hope Colbert brings the goods and keeps it going.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I hope you are right about Stewart and Fey, especially. Good to know there are still viciously smart and funny people out there. Perhaps my late night viewing is over, perhaps not—maybe Colbert will really kill it.

While I certainly don't want to criticize anyone who liked Leno more, I can only imagine that Dave's personality, slightly cantankerous and left of center, simply didn't work in vast stretches of this country. Maybe Leno's fluffy delivery placated people more? Maybe his "comfortable" humor fit the audience more at

I agree with everything positive that's been said here today. I watched him all through the 80s, got my comic sensibility from him, he was always there, etc. I'm just sad that he's gone. I really feel a sense of grief today. I didn't think it would hit me this hard, kind of like Robin Williams. It's like all the icons

This is a fantastic idea. I would love some best of the old Late Nights, too, but I see a lot of the old footage is on YouTube these days, I think.

So good. The film is a master class of cheese. And I think it has like nine training sequences!

"It couldn't be that simple, could it?"

And Carpenter's music sounds just as good now…hard to believe since it's all kind of primitive synth. But it just works so well with the movies. Damn good stuff.

Not only is the scenario dated, but that 80s style of hyper-sincerity is on full display. Swayze's performance is notched up to 12 the entire film. I always loved the sound of the machine guns, though. So manly!

"WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING? THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE…AN EXHIBITION!" *Duke sends a stream of spit all over the ring*

And the rape…jeez, the rape in Revenge of the Nerds!
