Didn't see the johnnie thing coming, but remember he got up and walked in that one episode.  That was kinda of a WTF moment with him for me anyways.

Can you please ask why a smart guy like Boyd would hold a dangerous man like Quarles hostage in a trailer with a week's supply of OXY, an unloaded shotgun, and two willing/unstable hillbilly hookers?  Especially with such a high price on his head. Definitely a head scratcher.
