I AM THE UNDERMINER
I AM THE UNDERMINER
The AV Club message boards kind of took a dump after the OG staff left and they went all-in on baiting with their 'thinkpieces'.
That'll get the internet message boards and twitter talking! And we know that all that internet chatter worked out well for "Snakes on a Plane".
Much of the criticism is racist? Maybe some, but most of the criticism is like yours. Nearly every single thing coming out about the movie sounds awful.
It made complete sense in the context of the show Jaime. I think people get their knickers in a twist because they loooove the book Jaime.
3 things:
1. rape culture
2. we read the books, so we are the head authorities on how the show should be presented.
3. Jaime is cute.

Won't anybody think of the clicks?
Once I read this article I plan on being OUTRAGED.
Listen, it's not worthy of television unless ABSOLUTELY NOBODY AND I MEAN NO FUCKING BODY is offended in any way by anything on the screen. If even one person is offended then the television failed to do it's job.
She pounded on his chest with feeble fists, murmuring about the risk, the danger, about their father, about the septons, about the wrath of gods. He never heard her. He undid his breeches and climbed up and pushed her bare white legs apart.
Sorry, since the difference between the show and the book is the basis for this entire article and message board I thought that was what you were discussing.
And we know that her objection on the show was not only about the location…how?
Awful, but necessary. It showed us how terrible Joffrey AND Littlefinger are.
Ha! The show is one of the most watched in HBO's history. But you think they need these awful thinkpieces to get attention.
Ha! I was really hoping that "I'm a cisgendered male" disclaimer would take off like the Dawes stuff, but for some reason people took it seriously.
Grapes of Thrones
Why wait for the show to play out when we can generate 2,000 comments today?
But he was mean Jaime back then, not dreamy Jaime!
Kind of surprising that so many people that read the books didn't interpret that encounter as rape. Rape is rape, people. TV shows with 10 episodes need to be a bit more blunt about it.
