I think people are also underestimating just how brilliant this show did shifts through time, and how each time shift informed the scenes that would come after it. Time was fluid but the storyline was always straight ahead, in a very similar way to Pulp Fiction.

I guess some people are upset that they didn't catch everybody from the film but I think that was the whole point of the series. Just as the stars only light up the small parts of the darkness, 2 men can only stop a small part of the larger evil.

Was he copying the accent of the movie they had on? I think it was just your standard "this guy is out of his fucking mind".

I think Marty has a pretty cushy gig as a Fox News contributor in his future. Cop involved in a high-profile case, conservative values, adulterer…

I couldn't disagree more. I'd watch Cohle & Hart read the phonebook together, at this point.

I agree, but in a bit of a less condescending manner. Going through some of the comments and reviews I'm realizing that instead of just enjoying this amazing show, I'm defending it against people who have a different opinion than me? Why? Brilliant show, I can't remember watching anything quite like it, especially

    Yep.

Maybe season 2 is a couple of new detectives taking over the case from where Rust & Marty left it?

Shocking to hear that people disliked the finale. I thought it was perfection, especially the last 10 minutes with Marty and Rust having a couple of huge breakthroughs. The first third of the finale was police procedural, with Marty and Rust combing through reams of evidence. The middle third was a horror movie,

She wasn't getting a read on Pizzolatto. He was getting a read on her.

Good lord, the people that watch this show are insane. I mean that in the best possible way.

Do Talking Dead next! I never bought into Hardwick as a hard boiled detective with a secret past.

    KABOOM! DON'T HURT EM ONEAL!

Damn, I thought the spoiler was for this film so I read it! Curse you!!!!

Hopefully she can finish writing that 7th book.

Liking vanilla ice-cream is hardly benign.

Couldn't agree more. you'll be shouted down by so many of the commenters on here, but the film section on this site has taken a severe beating since they went all-in on the TV section. All the talent left and now we get reviews like this, spending paragraphs telling us how the film isn't historically accurate only

Agreed, what's the point of it?

Bad meaning bad or Bad meaning good?

    fuck it
