Well this is turning stupid. Anyway, just wanna say that Fight Club's story arc is damn near perfect as it is. I can understand hating the movie, or loving the movie, or being indifferent to the movie, but I can't really understand wanting to change it, especially if that means dropping the Project Mayhem stuff.

I think the inadequacy of the humans' equipment was supposed to be part of the humour. They're waging a space war hundreds of years in the future and are still using ground infantry armed with rifles that are not much more advanced than the small arms armies have today.
