To the critic, have you even read the book?  Stephanie Plum's character is far from rough and tumble, she is totally inept at her job.  Most days she loses her car, gun and handcuffs in the pursuit of the the bond skippers.  In the seventeen books so far, she has had at least half that many cars explode.
