Do people really say that?  That show would be improved without its bloody protagonist?  Do they not understand fiction?  The more unrelatable the situation, the important it is to anchor it to a somewhat relatable center (Piper).  The fact that the show doesn't require her to be the center of everything is the really

Larry's a paper "Nice Guy".  All pleasant, sweet and understanding when it's effortless, like when he's dropping her off.  But when it's a hard choice, he'll always choose Larry.

Don't forget Chloe!  never forget Chloe!  NEVER FORGET!

My favorite is Valerie - in which Valerie's killed off her own show.

neither is pimping, or so they say.

Yeah, but what about all that fretting?  Certainly more of that would be preferable to the same amount of fretting.

I'm not sure.  I think it's more of a Nyquil

You're leaving out the context in which it appears:

Curious - did you read the book?

Pitch Black might be the best movie ever, as far as truly feeling like you're on an alien world.

Come on, Walt's clearly a very bad dude at this point, but we're still rooting for him.  It's the ultimate underdog story.  Kind of like "Hoosiers", we want him to win the State Meth Championship.  And after he gets the trophy, we then want Jesse and Hank to roast him on a spit.

Yeah, but which one was he?  Weren't they all pretty damn nebbishy?

That reminds of an old saying.

I thought Boys Don't Cry was a dark reboot of this movie, ala Batman Begins.

wow - me too, along with my bff from college (class of 91).  holy crap.

CHON LI! CHON LI! CHON LI!

(SPOILER)
The book stops cold at the moment before we discover whether the protagonist's son is cured.

Sure, the ending may have pissed off a good number of patrons, but no one who's seen it has forgotten it.  If the (SPOILER) convoy had shown up before he started pulling the trigger.  And they all watched the mist dissipate, and lived reasonably happily ever after, there you go - the good guys get away - BORING.

I watched the Mist with a woman I was dating.  She had young blond son.  She was outrageously upset by the ending.  Then got seriously pissed at me because I had seen it before.

I experienced Under the Dome via audiobook.  The reader gave Big Jim a pretty thick drawl, making him sound even more obviously evil.
