One of things they did well in JP was not rely on 100% CGI - there was quite a bit of animatronics in there, which were vital to connecting the creatures to physical reality.  Movies like "Clash of the Titans", that do everything on the computer, never anchor you to reality so it's more like watching a video game.

Could not agree more.  And Se7en's a fine film, and a very different film.  But, wow, TSOTL is in a class by itself.
