As always, this is pretty much my weekend. I didn't listen to The Desert Music, however I did re-watch Psycho without @avclub-b0cb521aba34990a0004c654f205b22b:disqus. I had forgotten just how ridiculously cheap Psycho is, something which really comes through in the terrible sound design. The ambient track is

The All Blacks game was quite interesting and I feel that a lot of people who are criticizing their performance weren't taking into account just how bad the weather was in Wellington. I was watching the game at home about 5 minutes from the stadium (I wasn't going to sit out there in all that rain) and you could

As always this is pretty much my week with some slight alterations. I re-watched The Middleman this week (mainly without Fireflame94 because he was busy) and it was pretty much exactly how I remembered it, right up to me randomly saying "Middleman" in conversations all week. The art stuff was still a little annoying

I think Keaton did a great job as Batman, but his Bruce Wayne is terrible. I like to refer to his characterization as Bruce Kent because I feel he comes off a lot more like introverted Clark Kent (complete with glasses) than suave billionaire Bruce Wayne. That being said, I haven't seen Batman Returns in a while so

Personally my top 3 Coen films (in order) are Barton Fink, Miller's Crossing and The Big Lebowski but its very hard to separate them and I could easily see Fargo sneaking ahead of Lebowski on a rewatch.

The Music Man is a fascinating case of what appears to be a director proof film. While I found the film to be rather poorly directed on a whole, the elements you outlined above made it enjoyable despite the shoddy direction.

While Jaws is pretty great, I think Spielberg actually did a better job with Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Well, it looks like I was wrong.

As always, this is pretty much my week except that I didn't listen to Porgy and Bess. However, I did rewatch Casablanca and my opinion of it remains unchanged, its a good film but not a great one. While I really like the screenplay and its great use of motivic dialogue, I'm less sold on Max Steiner's score (which was

As always, this is pretty much my week. Its interesting just how much of a difference the directors make in Malcolm in the Middle. In my re-watch its interesting that the show's downward slide in the later seasons seems to correspond with Todd Holland and Ken Kwapis no longer directing episodes. Without them directing
