Personally my top 3 Coen films (in order) are Barton Fink, Miller's Crossing and The Big Lebowski but its very hard to separate them and I could easily see Fargo sneaking ahead of Lebowski on a rewatch.

The Music Man is a fascinating case of what appears to be a director proof film. While I found the film to be rather poorly directed on a whole, the elements you outlined above made it enjoyable despite the shoddy direction.
