My biggest problem with narration is when a film or TV show just uses it at the start and end of the film, usually just to highlight thematic or narrative points which the filmmaker was unable to make without the narration. For example I watched A Simple Plan a couple of weeks ago and the way the film just had

Closing the door does make a much better cut so I don't really see the problem with Mad Men ending scenes by having Don close the door, besides its not like the other characters would hang around after the conversation ended.

Malcolm's assistant (I think her name is Sam) is in the film and Angela Heiney is briefly mentioned in a phone conversation as well, but apart from that it is just the same actors in slightly different roles. Perhaps I should have said a few shared characters instead of many shared characters.

This is basically my weekend, except I didn't do any reading. Instead I re-watched In The Loop to finish off my re-watch of The Thick of It (I'm not sure whether it is technically considered a part of the show, but it functions as an interesting prequel because there are many shared characters).

As I'm @avclub-b0cb521aba34990a0004c654f205b22b:disqus's twin, this is pretty much my weekend as well. I felt that Good for Nothing's main problem (apart from the at times questionable accents) was that it was over-edited and as such relied too heavily on close-ups instead of letting some of the scenes play out in

I get the feeling that terrible was an overly emotive word. While I dislike the film, I think my problem is more that Kiss me Deadly is held up as a common example of a really good B-Noir whereas I dislike the film and feel that Detour is a much better example of a good B-Noir. That being said, I do remember enjoying

My big problem with it is that I find the plotting kind of stupid and I remember having a lot of issues with the editing in particular when I watched it (but that was over a year ago so I can't remember specifically what I had issue with). I also thought it looked very cheap (again a year ago so I can't remember

While I know it is an unpopular opinion, I agree that Kiss Me Deadly is actually a pretty terrible Film Noir. I think that the only reason that it maintains its popularity is because way too many people are invested in the idea of Film Noir's having to be fatalistic.

I'm relatively sure he is going back to covering Justice League at the end of this season of BTAS.

As a current university student I spend most of my life procrastinating on assignments through pop culture (It is actually really easy to justify when you are doing a BA in Film). Just this week I skipped two lectures and instead engaged in a TV Club Classic inspired re-watch of "The Thick of It" and last week I blew
