The reference to One's death from is kinda indicative, though. He's surprised by it too, which he wouldn't be if it were his decision.
The exchange is
Wasn't it brought on by old age? He comments that he's 'wearing a bit thin' when the light starts, referencing the First doctor's death.
Capaldi was the guy in the TARDIS, but the guy talking definitely wasn't Capaldi. For one, he didn't have a Scottish accent and Capaldi is supposedly gonna use his natural accent.
I know it was him in the TARDIS, I'm just saying the line where someone says "Thirteen" probably wasn't him.
The whole thing is kind of complicated. The Doctor's never really been able to choose his face, but other Time Lords have. Romana was able to cycle through possible regenerations, and the Time Lords offered The Doctor a selection (all of which he rejected) when they forced him to regenerate.
That wasn't Capaldi, was it? It was one of the Time Lord officers, telling the general that there were thirteen Doctors present.
For me, Abi's fate is kinda in part justified because I think that she's Huq's self-insert the same way that Bing is Brooker's. It is a shame we don't see more of her, especially since it does actually have a lot of potential as a comment on how we sexualize women who work as presenters.
I'm fairly sure that Microsoft actually has a patent on doing that via Kinect.
OIC. Cool, Cool.
Couldn't you give an A+ on community grades before they disappeared into the awful new redesign? I distinctly remember that being a sticking point in the comments on one of TVDW's old reviews— that the community could give things an A+ but the critics couldn't.
The X Factor comparison is definitely specific though, as Huq worked on it. She presented the behind-the-scenes companion show. Fun fact, actually. Before even meeting her, Brooker faux-masturbated to footage of her delivering an apology. A show she was presenting (Blue Peter) faked a contest, and he said something…
A+.
It wasn't a reality show, it was a talk show in the format of his old radio show.
Yeah, but it's a much narrower field in series one because of the new format and how eager Rusty was to juggle a couple of surprisingly coherent arc storylines in the first series.
Speaking of Ahearne, Series one is just dripping with opportunities to compare directors. It's too nerdy for even an AV Club Classic Doctor Who recap, but just comparing the way that Ahearne and Boak deal with the Slitheen or Ahearne and Grant shoot Satellite 5 is actually pretty interesting.
All those words, and not a single mention of Keith Boak? That's a paddlin'.
You sure? The Crazy Frog thing was somewhat later than that, 2005 at least.
I don't understand how people who blame him settling down and having a kid can call themselves fans. He was writing lengthy discussions of why he went soft on Celebs in his column years before he even met Huq. It's been a recurring theme in his writing for ages, and if you actually watch his shows the tonal shift…
