The hardcore fans hated both of the reboot movies so far, I think. Into Darkness is really close to being a good movie, but somehow that just makes all the shitty plotting that much more frustrating.
I love Star Trek, and I mostly agree with you. If only they could combine some of the good action from Into Darkness with a real Trek plot, we would have had a movie that would rival Wrath of Khan, instead of merely aping it.
