Yeah, I'm usually okay with expository dialogue on this show as long as it isn't too bad, but this was unnecessary and clumsy. And they explained it twice. Huh.

In fairness, the last few Parks episodes have been pretty good, though I'm getting sick of Chris and Andy's a little too dumb.

Someone pointed out that this season seems to be divided into parts, and the next part seems to introduce something new for Olivia, going by the promo for 5x08.

@avclub-15d496c747570c7e50bdcd422bee5576:disqus I really do think that's where Olivia comes in in this storyline. Despite her being stoic in the beginning, I think she's always been a very emotional person, and that's always played a big role in the way she does her job. She's just never found it easy to actually

That horse, man. That episode was just fantastic.

I'm pretty happy with what they've done with Olivia so far, though they didn't use her too much this episode. Her arc is definitely finished, more or less, but I don't think she's 'basically nothing' - she's still a well-realized character, and all the emotional stuff feels to me like a natural conclusion of her arc,

..I suppose. I've really liked this season so far, anyway, so that doesn't really bother me at this point. While I loved the Altverse and its characters, and thought it was very well-realized, I also think that it was more of a means to widen the scope of storytelling for these core characters, so..I don't know. Yeah, that's probably not what you meant, @avclub-6f2918fcd0f193a9e0dcc0337775b148:disqus . I think Olivia's still interesting, but her arc is more or less completed, really, so I guess I get where you're coming from.

Yes, that's what I got from it too. And that's probably why I liked it a lot more than Noel did - for an essentially hopeful show, Fringe can often be painfully realistic as well, and I'm enjoying the hell out of the direction the show's chosen to go this season.
