I actually like that Fringe doesn't try to be this big sci-fi epic. It concentrates on these core characters and settings, and that makes the stakes all the more personal and meaningful to me. I think Doctor Who in recent years has been a lot of fun, but I also have a lot of issues with how it underutilises the

I totally missed it too! To be honest, I think it might just be a way of showing how people remember things differently, rather than something overly complex. But there's no telling with this show, I guess..

But, as you pointed out, I'm on the AV Club - where almost everything (except obviously terrible things) that shows the slightest bit of promise is given a chance to prove itself, and to find its niche and develop into something unique. Of course, this is a CBS procedural, so I'm not counting on unique, but it

Yeah, same here, except it's Indian parents + Indian schooling in my case.

Agreed, @avclub-268ee58003c24bfd46e908848a3215e3:disqus . Dianna Wynne Jones is fantastic.

In the House of Night series, the protagonist's best friend actually fell in love with a birdman. Not kidding.

There's this one person who's obsessed with Anna Torv/Olivia Dunham, and another person who's obsessed with Joshua Jackson, and they basically just keep fighting over the stupidest of things and making the most ridiculous complaints, complaints that anyone who's watched the show should know don't hold true. It's not

I hardly 'get anything out of it'- the show's only been on for two episodes! It's some light fun. And I don't even expect all that much out of it, because it's a CBS procedural, and the only CBS show I've ever liked is The Good Wife.

A lot of Sherlock is all style, really. The fact that every episode is a mini-movie by itself is definitely impressive, but besides that, I've never really thought of it as anything more than an above average crime procedural. I don't understand all the praise it gets, to be honest.
