That's exactly what I said about Birdman.

The trouble with "peak tv" is there are now so many shows being that there are showrunners and writers being employed who have no business working in television.

It wouldn't be worth it unless they got better writers.

So Duchovny's post original X-Files batting average of .000 continues I see.

Thanks for the link, I never would have seeked out his list otherwise. I have to say that other than his inclusion of the Eli Roth films I think its an interesting list.

…whether you want them or not.

You'll get over it.

Seeing as how The AV Club had an F grade all queued up for this move before reviewing it, a C+ must mean its actually pretty good.

I was on PCP when I watched it so I win.

Where Rabin sees an auteur getting a film out of his system, I see a director bumping up against the limits of his talent.

I'd like to go back in time and live my life over dating back to the first episode of Friends. I'd do everything the same again except I wouldn't watch any episodes of Friends.

That's the problem, there aren't many more talented writers or actors than there were 20 years ago but there are a ton more opportunities for them now so we are subjected to a lot of dreck.

So pro wrestling is an AV Club thing now I guess.

Melissa McCarthy is a superstar in films yet her TV show is a complete afterthought. I can't think of another actor who has had the same experience. There are plenty of TV stars who fail in movies and there are plenty of washed up movie stars who go on to TV but nobody that matches McCarthy.

He took the gig.

Antenna TV airs The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson reruns - in their entirety - with 80s and 90s era episodes on weeknights and 90-minute 70s reruns on weekends.

David Bowie was a hero to most…

Its fine but Purple Noon is better imo.

Good call on the Chris Mitchum comparison, I'm shocked you even knew of him. Patrick Wayne would have also worked.

I think both films were made by tremendously talented filmmakers who are not very deep thinkers.
