Big dogs are the best!  If I moved back north I would definitely get Newfies or Bernese Mt Dogs.  As it stands, my mid-sized hairy dogs are a lot to deal with in the Georgia heat.

I have a couple of hairy mutts (chow mix and Great Pyrenees mix) and 3 cats (one of which is a calico kitten that had been hanging out in my friends' yard a few weeks - they kept referring to it as feral).

I spend a ridiculous amount of time on Petfinder.  Just don't volunteer at a kill shelter, otherwise you WILL end up with a dog!

Hang in there!  I am also really hard on myself when I have a bad run/yoga session/kickball game, so I can sympathize.  But remember that everyone has bad days (and if they don't, then we can all agree that they are horrible people not worth thinking about :) ).

That first paragraph quoted could easily be altered with a "One could imagine" inserted at the beginning to show that the writer is painting a picture rather than reporting fact.
