From the articles I read, it appears that the Turkish filmmakers merely watched the source material but didn't necessarily translate them so the Turkish versions of the movies were based on what the filmmakers thought was

That was my point. If you're going to rip people off, you want them to buy your product thinking they're getting the successful product they were actually hoping to buy.
But this goal of cashing in on all the buy-crazy "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" fans…. Seems like it just might have been doomed to failure.
