The show's too youth oriented to have a really old guy as The Doctor.

She was genuinely very popular for quite a while, but Season Six burned off a lot of that goodwill.

It's amusing how many people think 'Respected elderly British classically trained actor' automatically means 'Gay'.

I think part of it is that they're so underwritten and yet we're expected to be excited by them.

I'm not sure the novels and audio productions are considered canon for the TV series.  There's certainly no evidence that they are taken into account by TV writers.

I'd really love to know -how- they blew it up, but I think that narrative plot has sailed.

According to the Finnish Presidency's website: ' The President decides on: Finland’s foreign policy outlines, initiatives and
directives for Finland’s representatives abroad in all matters of

Actually, on a rewatch, the comment about "two nations" strongly implies I'm wrong here.  I guess one could call Europe a 'nation' but that's a stretch.

I get that it's possible for him to have done both.  It just seemed like his aide's comment that they had a day to get out of Washington very strongly implies the opposite.

So why is Furlong still around?  The last we saw him, didn't he have to be out of Washington in a day?

I presumed that it was a US-EU trade agreement and that Finland was negotiating on behalf of the EU.  Perhaps they held the rotating EU Council Presidency (although IRL IIRC they won't actually hold it until 2018 or so).

I've heard a lot of Estonian accents, and she sounded similar, so… maybe?

Is it just me, or should Selina have been meeting with Finland's President, not the Prime Minister?

Of course the Cybermen predate the Borg.  But the way this new iteration of Cybermen seem to work - the upgrading, the cyber controller, the instantaneous appearance of circuitry on people's faces - is very similar to the Borg.

I heard that Tennant actually auditioned to play Lecter.  Imagine that!

Its Dianne

I'm hoping we'll see her doing stuff in Moscow… although I dunno if the show needs a lot of cutaways.

So is it possible one of the interchangeable old white guys in the situation room was El Presidente?

Yes he did.
