I bet it's a slideshow of every page of the book. It'll receive mostly savage reviews, but a handful critics will call it a masterpiece. Criterion will then release it on Blu-Ray.
It's rather amazing. The idea that an actor can spend a decade making almost nothing but crap, and then just say, "Hey, maybe I should start making good movies," as if flipping a switch kind of gives hope for everybody.
@Scrawler2:disqus Not only does John Goodman say the word ninja, he actually beats up a ninja, and then bemoans the sorry state of modern day ninjas.
Question for the readership: Is A Countess From Hong Kong worth a watch? It's reputation is terrible, but I've seen pretty much everything else by Chaplin, so it seems like I ought to.
I always found it rather hard to believe that Welles would just completely lie about writing a script for the film. I find it rather easy to believe that Chaplin took his script and rewrote it to such a massive degree that Welles no longer really deserved a writing credit (I don't think the credit process was as…
Cloud Atlas and Speed Racer have some pretty passionate defenders, which is more than I can say for the sequels. Every defense of the sequels basically begins and ends with, "Well, some of the action scenes are still really cool."
I liked it a quite a bit, so I was pretty bummed. On the other hand, since it was made with foreign money they seem to have successfully avoided director jail, so more power to them, I guess.
Indeed. Those kids in Africa have it easy.
The only R-rated movie I ever got kicked out of was Phone Booth. Up until that point, I had always been able to get into R movies by going with my older brother, but the theater suddenly changed its policy to where it has be a legal guardian. Upon being told I couldn't get a ticket, I just said "Fine, get me a ticket…
You mean you don't immediately associate him with Animal House?
@avclub-72e068a12ae7544202a7fcc40b5448aa:disqus I used to lump Seda in with Michelle, since for a long while the Oz pilot was the only good thing he ever did, but I've been forced to very reluctantly come around on him after his work in The Pacific and Treme.
Aside from Michael Michelle, I'd say all the late additions to Homicide were pretty good actors. They've certainly all done good work elsewhere. It was the writing that went downhill.
"underlining Fey’s continued troubles gaining much traction on the big screen."
I just watched Affliction over the weekend, which has its own fairly brutal scene of self-dentistry. The one in Bug is probably the worst, though.
Well, with Tommy Lee Jones out of the picture someone had to fill the Ridiculously Overqualified quota.
There's a fair number of shows that aren't on HBOGO. A quick perusal through their catalog finds the following absences (only counting primetime series and miniseries):
If they do that, they'll probably price the episodes in a way where downloading the whole season would cost significantly more than the eventual DVD price. That way people would still be paying a premium for immediate access. They could also probably make it so if you buy seasons of more than, say, two shows, then…
Iran?
Someone should put together a list of all the incorrect names Letterman has applied to people over the years.
