I'll take your word about 'Deliverance' (I've never seen a trailer from that decade that didn't suck), and MY instincts were also right about  Batle:Los Angeles.   In any case, every other site is pooping all over this thing.  And since my down time is valuable, I'll pick something else.  I'm sure I'll see it

When I was a kid The Police Academy movies were funny.  That's what this movie is going to be for today's generation. If you're an adult, don't watch it sober, there's just no reason to.

It looked excruciatingly bad in the early trailers.  I'm afraid to trust this review.

It's amazing stand up…for people who don't normally like stand up.  Otherwise it's a 6.5 on a scale of ten.  10 being Carlin, Black, Rock or Louis.

Woody Allen's film "Radio Days" is a fun primer.  But similar to nooyawk, I mostly gleaned the info by osmosis.  Radio was still big in the 80s (my teen years), and television relied heavily on reruns (little Rascals, 40s and 50s films and sitcoms). I was going to be obnoxious and bring up how husband and wife comedy programs first gained traction via 1930s and 40s radio, but I figure that for anyone who would care it's a given.  I still think it should be noted that for every run away hit, there are a half dozen shows that just missed getting the formula right.

The social scientists claim that there's no rise in the level of comfort, security or happiness  past a couple hundred K a year (depending on where you live, 75K).  Then again they may just be telling us that so we try harder to see the dignity in being poor.
