I agree.  Why not cast a similar looking old man and save on the 8hrs of makeup.

This is sad, but inevitable, news.  Ray Bradbury was my gateway to science fiction.  I remember, as a teen, being inspired by his stories and poorly trying to imitate his style.  What a drag…

April is great, but the last two have been meh.  April was done with a band, it has varying dynamics and electric guitar.  His newfound love of nylon stringed guitar is mostly lost on me, despite the occasional moments of beauty.

"the Year of Image" —no kidding.  My order list now has as a pile of Image books.  While talking about Nathan Edmunson, don't forget The Activity, which is a great, efficient thriller.  Thief of Thieves, The Secret, The Manhattan Projects, Fatale, Saga.  All of which are non-superhero books (not that there's anything

Word —this track is great.

I dropped both titles.  It's weird, because they're so universally loved but they kept falling to the bottom of my stack and eventually going unread.

Really?  I flipped it on and had no expectations, and ended up just chuckling along.

Over there with the Wendys

Ah, here's what I was looking for.  Once we're past the entry-level britpop, you can get into the equally good, but far less known, bands.

I agree with turtlehead —they were very much a part of Britpop, just not the whole new-Brittania thing, which this article seems to conflate.

Right?  Last week they actually played a promo thingie where I work and I'd never heard of them.  I had to ask a friend (in the UK) who they were, and he answered "They are the cultural equivalent of a sharp stone in your shoe".

Last week's IM with Koski had me in tears, but this sets the bar even higher.

Agreeing with all the Speed Racer love.  It's gorgeous, non-ironic fun.   And that monologue by John Goodman?  <sniff> —just got a bit of dust in my eye.

Moe Berg is also a totally hot chick.

I agree completely.  It's rare (like I'd still have fingers left over if I counted on one hand) to be emotionally invested by a  game.  But between the visuals, the incredible score, and the tone-perfect gameplay I was sincerly moved at the conclusion.

Could not agree more with the thesis above.  Earwolf was initially cool (and I still love HDTGM), but the quantity is overwhelming, and the quality suffers in turn.

Stone cold fucking ninjas.
