Chrome ruled. Wish I could've seen 'em. I did get to see Helios Creed the first chance I got (which was around '94), and it blew my puny little mind. Lady Piss sounds piss-tastic.

Also: tracking down Mitochondrion right now.

All hail UMD.

Pleased to be of utility. I look forward to this column every month, too. I love taking a long bubble bath the first Wednesday of each month and chatting with you dudes. I hope that doesn't make you uncomfortable.

@Prick Decay: Yeah, I wrote for Skyscraper for a few years back in the day. I'm surprised you remember my name! Unless you wrote for them, too…

Glad you dig it!

Coliseum rules, although they're more of a hardcore band than a metal band. And they do indeed destroy live.

The only thing Gallhammer has in common with the Boredoms is that they're both from Japan and presumably made up of carbon-based lifeforms. That said: "Shitty Boredoms" is not a derogatory phrase in my book.

Mr. President: I hear you about wanting to discuss bands you've heard of. However: Skipping lots of mediocre-to-bad albums by established bands doesn't mean I won't continue reviewing decent-to-awesome albums by established bands.

I don't have anything against Derek at all. But I think the point remains: They should have changed the name after Max left. I'm not against replacement lead singers on principle, but far too often, they fall flat. (For more on that: See my review of Yes' new album in our regular music section next week.)

@Hostess: Are you trying to say it's impossible for a band to be inept and untalented while simultaneously "going something strange on purpose"? Because I've heard a thousand bands like that, many of them amazing (like Gallhammer). I think it's a true talent to use rudimentary musical skills to make something as

I haven't heard any news, but if a new project releases a new record, I'll definitely review it here.

Oh, and just to be clear: I didn't hate the new Exhumed! Like I said, it's solid, but I thought it was a little bland.

I've actually thought of doing a "pick of the month" before (one that isn't the stream)… You're right, maybe I ought to. Lemme think on it!

@Homer: Anytime a band on the level of Maiden, Megadeth, or Social D comes out with a new album, I'll more than likely be covering it in our regular music section rather than here. (Case in point: my B- review of Hard Times And Nursery Rhymes). But I hear y'all: more negativity, I might be able to swing that.

Yeah, I skipped it, for the same reason I skipped the new In Flames. I guess I'd rather use this limited space to spotlight something fresh and exciting (at least to me). Do you guys think I should cover more established bands each month? Lemme know.

Keep an eye out next month…

No idea! If you hear something, let us know.

In case it wasn't clear above: This is my favorite album of the month.
