You're letting me down, UMD. Me and at least three dozen others.

Celeste may be too bastardized to qualify as BM, but they're one of the best French bands around today.

It's kind of a mix between what gets sent to me and what I seek out (or what friends recommend). I have nothing whatsoever against prog. In fact, I love it. I'll try to cover Iconoclast next month.

The funny thing is, that's probably the most overtly poppy song on that Cerebral Ballzy album. The rest of it is a lot more snotty and punky.

It's tough isolating one track from the new album and tagging the whole thing that way… It's all over the map (including switching from lives tracks to studio). But yeah, it's way more loose and playful, in a sadistic sort of way, than a lot of their mid-period stuff. Lots more improv. Skronkily speaking, that is.

@Damnit Heller: I see your point, but let me break it down: For every record I cover here each month, I skim through two or three others that don't hook me enough to cover. I have limited space in this column (believe it or not, it's true!), so I have to be selective. That means it's the albums I like most that wind

In case you were wondering…
The new "Sepultura" album will get covered in our regular review section soon. I know you're excited.

Yorkshire has been copying me for years. It's starting to get a little creepy.

Yes, I'm blowing all these dudes…
with your mom's mouth.

Thanks, Greedy, and yeah, that's what I'll be trying to do with the Twitter feed. Speaking of which, I better get on that today…

Nice, can't wait.

As someone who's seen both Gira and Bishop live, I can't wait to see that bill.

Yeah, it's killer. I wish I had more room to cover reissues here, but I pretty much have to stick to one previously-released album per month in Retro Loud. There's just too much great new stuff coming out.

I've seen (and played with) Across Tundras tons of times when they lived here in Denver. But I've never seen the new lineup. I'm assuming it's at least as good.

@Famous_Mortimer: You're 35? You whelp. I'm 39. And yes, I still have "those feelings about the world" that make me listen to music like this. Sucks to be me. Would you be so kind as to throw me the number of your therapist?

That reminds me: Kyle Ryan (I think) will be reviewing the new Fucked Up for our regular section next week. I still haven't heard it yet… Can't wait.

P.S. I still consider Hetfield a self-taught musician, seeing as how he only took a handful of guitar lessons right around the time the band was being formed.

I meant exactly that: They started out untalented. It's a matter of record that Hetfield (whom I totally I respect as a musician and a songwriter) and Ulrich could barely play their instruments when they began writing songs together. On their first recorded appearance— the original version of "Hit The Lights" from

I'd love to, and I'll try. Not sure if I could get it pushed through… Hell, I'm still trying to get the green light on a Mike Patton G2G, and he's way higher profile (not to mention geekier).
