Yay!

Really? Okay, lets not escalate. :)

Same here.

The lack of melanin has been bothering me too. Contrast to Sleepy Hollow (which had an *awesome* episode last night) and a cast with chemistry. I'm on board with Fitz and Simmons at this point.

Wow, Sims. D+?

Everyone in 21st century Sleepy Hollow has so much fun with their roles, the hyper seriousness of historical Sleepy Hollow seems very meh in comparison. I like 'the team' as it has been currently composed.

Let me add my voice to the chorus of bemoaning-ness. Bemoanance?

In fact, there is an article on our very own AV Club exploring this topic (Sonia Saraiya's 'For Our Consideration') and it is pointed out that the casting of minority characters is a network decision at Fox. All sorts of awesome, IMO. :)

I am not holding this show to any sort of historically accurate standards (I don't have any academic knowledge of American fashion of that time period) — it just seems (within the internal chronology of the show) to be rather an abrupt shift.

I don't watch this show but I thoroughly enjoyed reading the review. Nice job Sonia! :)

John Cho has been da bomb on this show!!

One thing that irked me: we have gone from Puritan like costuming (which at least sort of historically rang true) to elaborate French inspired court dress type fashion in this episode? What? Why??!

How do I vote for this episode? Why are we being subjected to new layout?!?!!!!!

I also think the problems with Skye are related to our perception of her and less about whether it is believable that she is an amazeballs hacker. So far, she is just not a very good character. But I saw vague glimmerings that could improve. I really liked her interactions with Simmons, for instance.

I agree. Whatsername Hand going

I really like 'Elementary'. In a way that is totally different to how I like 'Sherlock'. Its a much quieter show for one thing and I enjoy the mysteries they come up with. I honestly didn't think I would be as invested in it as I am. Liu's Watson is a huge draw for me.

Lol, polar bear dog I think although I do see where you're getting the wolf seal. :)

True.

It was totes an epic tea shop. (I was referencing the quote when he gets offered "his own tea shop" by Quon in 'Earth')

I think the show had made it clear that when the spirits are close to Vaatu they cannot help but revert to their darker, more chaotic selves. However, this episode puts complications in that idea when Wan Shi Tong clearly chooses to support Unalaq and by proxy Vaatu (although he may not know about that link up now
