Thank you (on account of the fact that I like Rob Thomas a lot and his
lyrics and songs have gotten me through some hard times)! but seriously,
discourse about music is essentially impossible unless we've all been
Julliard-trained in music theory. Why someone enjoys one musical artist
and someone enjoys another comes…
Is Rob Thomas the uncool part? I hope not, he's my favorite singer/songwriter if I'm gonna be completely honest
Yeah, I would say don't ever read a review without seeing the actual show, but "ambiguously Jewish" is a very good adjective
Yeah, but Jerry was a stand-up comic so the show had punchlines and stuff.
I was thinking of Laverne and Shirley too
or a lack of adjectives in the English language or the internet commenters vocabular to describe what they're watching, so they say "it's flight of the concordsy"
This show reminds me of an idiosyncratic novel that takes a few chapters to get into. It's not really that hooky for a web series so I'm surprised that this rose to prominence through that outlet. It's gotta have a few more punchlines and one-liners for a 3 minute video. Abbi and Ilana are raunchy but that's not…
I don't think Kes added or subtracted from the show, but Kim was the worst and in my limited amount of internet board use I remember fans hating him too
I kind of disagree there, they had Jadzia's hosts in other bodies a couple times and there was a guy who briefly became the 8th or 9th Dax when he took the space station hostage
Ezri felt too introspective and kind of like a character on a teen soap. I saw her as the 24th century version of Clare Danes in that show she used to have in the 90s
On an unrelated note, what about the Nicholls, Takei, Keoing and Doohan on the original series. They were never listed in the credits, so was their status continually up in the air or at will of the producers?
IIRC, Lien get fired because they wanted to make room for a hot woman, which I say even as a straight guy who would reap the benefits of a hot woman, was really dumb and shallow.
I'm not sure, but I imagine it's difficult to negotiate with your actors a clause in which the character can die at any point just because it suits a writer's fancy.
I wonder what it was like to see Tasha killed if I was watching it when it first aired.
I've heard about it, that leaves me fascinated about her as well.
I mean, what would have been amazing is if they could have kept the negotiations w/Terri Farrell & Becker secret so it would have been a complete surprise if she died. That would have generated quite a bit of buzz.
that was very insightful
I do try to justify my critical opinions but I usually don't try to justify celebrity obsessions as I'd be the first to admit they don't have much rationality anyway. I don't approve or disapprove of her, she just seems fascinating enough to me that I'd be willing to tune into the View a couple times to see how she's…
If that's directed at me, I'm not arguing that Friends aged well either.
If I remember correctly, I don't think anyone thought Friends was brilliant in its day, just highly catchy (especially to the female demographic), highly successful ratings-wise and full of talented break-out stars, so execs would talk it up. I…
