Yeah, but a major problem with the show is that they're what, 15 years into their assignment? Wouldn't Phillip and Elizabeth know if they love each other by now? Wouldn't they have made up their mind about defecting or not by now? Wouldn't they likely have been killed? Think about it, wouldn't the show be more

Yeah, but they're putting themselves in huge danger pretty much every week anyway. It strikes me that defecting is the safer option and loyalty is keeping them t the USSR

I'd even have to ask why they went ahead and had children with their highly risky lifestyles where they are liable to be killed every week.
If it is a coincidence that Beemon moved across the street, it's stupid. If it's planned, it's a smart move on the part of the writers. Funny dichotomy, there

-I agree with Genovive that I don't understand how rape figured into the pilot. The Russian guy raped her and that made her more loyal to her country. How many Americans raped her?

Although he looks like and acts so much like Roman from Party Down, why didn't they cast that guy instead? I almost think the character was based on Roman

I picture him as being kind of camera shy and Charlie Kaufmanish if his characters are any indication

never watched that one. Don't have HBO. In fact, it's a miracle I'm able to watch Enlightened at all.

Rian Johnson of The Brothers Bloom? (Haven't seen Looper) I might have been a little obnoxious with my quote earlier.

Good observation. @avclub-7aee1b75b527e215f31e20a5c4e7a768:disqus you should hire this guy

And some people were saying that like "Terriers" this show was ok ending in a self-contained way because the ratings were so low. I personally think Season 1 was just the set up for the good stuff and knew that Season 2 would just be explosive and one of the best seasons I've television I watched. I'm so happy it got

OK I've said this before, and I don't think it's a secret, but TV episode show directors are largely
irrelevant, right. Whether it's James Bobin, Todd Haynes or Jonathan Demme directed it or
not, he still has to follow the show bible and the stylistic constraints
of the pilot. Directing an episode of TV that isn't the

For me the biggest cringes are the Krista-Amy interactions. I'm physiologically affected. I think Amy's behavior towards Krista, even though it isn't sexual, would classify as workplace harrassment.

I think Tyler was too desparate for a girlfriend though. I've been there, but I wonder if we can make the argument (or if someone like Dougie will make the argument to Tyler) that his weakness was letting his loneliness get to him to the point where he wanted to do something criminal and let it affect his mood a lot.

Come on, TV episode show directors are largely irrelevant. Whether it's James Bobin or Jonathan Demme directed it or not, he still has to follow the show bible and the stylistic constraints of the pilot. Directing an episode of TV that isn't the pilot is basically the definition of being a director-for-hire. If you're

Creed should get the MVP from the first ep. of the season and the ep. where they take the bus to Pennsylvania Dutch Country and I think Dwight deserves it for the episode where a guy is hired to break Oscar's legs.

Although, I think all shows are a little inconsistent. I think  that we're harping on te Office because they've set the bar so high in the first few seasons.

@avclub-d6537db628c8624dd41cdf68e445b71b:disqus  I never agreed with the pitiful sub=par Mihael Scott caracterization because I didn't compare the two.  It seemed like other people were really concerned with how he two stack up and then getting into invitable comparisons. I saw Andy as a decent guy with some potential
