Hey, I used to plug stuff on the AV Club a lot and then I stopped doing because I felt dirty about it, but I think this is one of the few times where an article I wrote really is just relevant to the conversation, so let me just throw this out: http://bit.ly/pE2lJ0 I wrote it a couple years ago out of a fascination

That's silly. Just because they don't have scenes together doesn't mean they're not friends. Finn is an active kid in the club, he doesn't just sit in the corner and not talk to anyone.

I think they're borrowing from old tv and film conventions like The Andy Griffith show and How Green was my Valley or October Sky, where the towns were small and had a real sense of isolation. Yeah, you can't really expect that isolation today, but I let it slide because it's a little bit of an abstract place McKinley

Yeah, i don't even know if it could fall into so ridiculous it's funny territory

oh come on, Zack Morris would do that stuff all the time on Saved by the Bell and so did every teen ever. We're just too politically correct these days

The entire Quinn plot was something I somehow missed. If you asked me to summarize Quinn's storlyine, I wiouldn't have picked up that she was trying to frame the girl's stepmom. I understand Todd being personally attached to it, but minus that plot, this was a great episode with great lines

I thought it was cool that they have a character named Orrin. That's like the only time ever that a guy on primetime TV has my name. He's not the most likeable character ever but still awesome!

How was Chris horrible? He's a very genuine guy. The point of his talking about intercourse in front of the dad was that he goes too far

Not to mention, Anne dated three guys that had nothing in common with her. How was it even remotely plausible she was ever with Andy (thankfully the show logistically avoided that hurdle by starting them in relationship). She was apathetically disagreeable with Mark, it wasn't like a hate him because he ruffles my

That is what I call a winning comment

loved the ep. but good point about April. I think her getting into Halloween period was the in-character part, and her going with a cheesy costume was the irony

oh, then i take back my comment about hating him.

oh, how i hate you so much

I think Zach's not watching the episodes as they were intended to be watched. The viewers weren't originally watching them in rapid succession off DVD's and intentionally looking for or expecting the twists. It might have been less indistinguishable from other stuff on 1950's TV, and they might have been more easily

I had no idea that people in your age range frequent the same places on the internet I do. My dad was 18 in 1959 and he just uses the internet to check email, go on CNN, and his source of humor comes from e-mail "forwards" from other old friends.

yeah, except the show was written well before Occupy Wall Street

Fox is just making the assumption that because the non-animated version of Jonah Hill is popular, that people will be attracted to him on TV in animated form. You should carry out your complaint with the people who inexplicably like the live version of Jonah HIll (personally, I'm not a hater or a lover of him).

i'd rather not do that on account of not being a Steve Heisler fan.

I think the show had a better handle on the genius kid than Stewie on Family Guy. It's made pretty clear that the kid is deluded into thinking he's great because he has two enabling parents. It's also pretty clear he didn't win a Tony and that they were just making him think he did cause he's just a kid.

agreed, I don't see the point in comparing this to Mad Men at all. I don't watch Mad Men, so irrelevant commentary.
