The article doesn't explain this project accurately. "Reimagined/Updated Basement Tapes" sounds like they're re-doing Quinn the Eskimo or Too Much of Nothing. That's not the case — these are all newly-finished songs adapted from lyrics Dylan wrote but didn't get around to recording. Maybe everyone knows that, but…

I don't think this song is THAT bad. I'd certainly rather listen to it than "Siouxsie And The Banshees and a lot of post-punk like Joy Division
and nihilistic industrial electronic music," as he points out — aw, how precious.

I liked this feature at first, but I've grown extremely tired of it. It doesn't make anyone look good, but rather mean-spirited. Either they come off as too eager to take pot-shots at easy targets, or they just come across as cranky dicks. If I ever get asked to do HateFeature, I'll bitch about HateSong.

How does this article mention nowhere that this is Vol. 10 of Dylan's Bootleg Series?  And that the standard version of the release doesn't include Self Portrait, but just the outtakes?  Or that the newly-released tracks take away the orchestration and choir vocals that so many people hated about the original Self…
