What was Kirby-esque about it? I would have thought the art but you said you aren't a fan of Romita. I like Romita, I don't know why everyone shits on him.

Excellent! Thank you.

New 52 GLC was the first Tomasi I ever read so for a long time I would never believe people when they told me he was a good writer.

Weird to hear someone say they like Sinestro but want to avoid Johns' run. Johns is responsible for making him as big of a character as he is now. I would suggest at least reading Green Lantern: Rebirth, Green Lantern: Secret Origin (GL 29-35), and the first trade after the New 52, entitled, simple enough, Green

Hickman excels at writing Reed Richards.

Since this is an article about fake manga, does anyone have any suggestions for real manga? I got really into anime recently and I want to explore the print side more. So far though I've only manga that are attached to a more famous anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Nausicaa, Berserk, Akira, GOLDEN BOY.

Ultimate Fantastic Four: Devils by Mike Carey: Ultimate Diablo, an
alchemist in 15th century Italy, kidnaps people close to the Fantastic
Four (Reed's sister, Sue and Johnny's dad, Ben's mom, Johnny's random
fuckbuddy) and they have to go back in time to save him. It was alright.

Yeah, that's the main crime. Not just stupid, also ironic, since a large part of Stewart's career was built around attacking that false equivalency which he then found himself enthusiastically engaged in.

He didn't walk away from Bojack, even though he doesn't believe in God.

Kimmel also got terrible reviews his first year. Yeah, I don't expect Noah to get fired, regardless of how he does (although I don't expect him to do well).

Jena Friedman?

"a little too green" is an extremely diplomatic way of putting. It suggests that he could improve with practice. He needs more than practice, he needs to overhaul his entire comedic persona. Even if he got really good at delivery and timing, but didn't change his material, he would still basically be a South African

"It was the first of many “white people be like, but black people be
like” jokes in Noah’s set, which, even at their most pedestrian went
down easy delivered in his buttery South African accent"

To be sure but when talking about superheroes, it's hard to tell what's a disability and what's a superpower. If the character is bummed about it, that could be one way to tell. Does Rogue count as disabled? I don't know. It's up for debate.

Oh Jesus. There's a Cracked article in the comments about a guy who got his penis amputated after getting cancer.

Bucky.

It wasn't an attack on you personally or even on Cyborg #1. More just pointing out the inherent absurdity of reviewing single issues, of reviewing 1/6th of a story that takes 10 minutes to read, which is what all comic book reviewers do.

I think I was pretty clear I was talking about single issues. Sword of Atlantis was a whole trade. I'll give you credit for Annihilator. Still, in most cases, because of modern decompression, it is really hard for anyone to have strong feelings about a single issue. A lot of times it seems like the concept is being

as to the review, the reviews here are always especially lenient. They sort of have to be. The idea that you can draw any conclusion, good or bad, from a single issue of a big 2 comic is kind of ridiculous. If they were honest, every review would just be "I don't know, gotta wait 6 more issues really"

Depends on how liberal your criteria, but Ben Grimm should count. He's not disabled per se but he's disfigured and it's a constant source of trauma for him. It's been explored way more in the comics than Professor X's being in a wheelchair. Or even Barbara Gordon's being in a wheelchair.
