STAY POSITIVE
That last Hold Steady album is about as solid as a summertime album gets. This is especially true if you live in a small town.

King of Kong
That was a great movie.

@ Steve McRib: That was Robert Blake who claimed that he couldn't have killed his wife because he was going back to the restaurant to get his gun at the time of her murder… and HE got away with that shit.

@ Emperor Jim: It's real easy to make that argument about Phish because I understand that to the uninitiated they seem self-indulgent (or "noodling" a term I hate so much because it's too easy and dismissive) and their lyrics are stupid and I won't try to argue against that assumption because it's partially true. I

…and I should add Harry's response to that: "I dunno Lloyd, the French are assholes"

"Where the beer flows like wine… I'm talkin' about a little place called Asssspen."

Dumb & Dumber
I find myself quoting Dumb & Dumber more than is necessary. Paricularly "Just go man" (when someone say they have to pee), "That John Denver was full of shit", "I'm gonna kill you, Lloyd" and "WE'VE LANDED ON THE MOON" (Anytime).

I was just lamenting earlier today that no one got my Arrested Development reference… "Army had half-day".

@OY!

Also, I just saw the Snake 'N' Bacon thing and it reminded me. I fucking hate Kristin Schaal. I hate Flight of the Conchords because of Kristin Schaal, and every time she shows up on The Daily Show I find myself wishing that she would just explode somehow. Jesus, I am genuinely pissed now just thinking about her. FUCK!

As stated at the top, Mos Def is a 9/11 Truther. Fuck him.

I used to like Mos Def. I had a few of his albums and I thought he was a really good rapper. Then he went on Real Time with Bill Maher and revealed that he was a 9/11 Truther. That killed it for me. He has even been banished from my iPod.

"I'm the Man Who Sues You"

Jeff Tweedy: You're all fired! Each and every one of you! Merry Christmas!

It's weird that A.D. Miles is the head writer for that show. I thought he was hilarious when I saw his stand-up (not to mention Crystal Shyps on Tim & Eric) and yet the writing on that show is fuckin' horrible.

I'm pulling for Diego: The Messiah Lobster or for the various mascots for the NCAA basketball tournament. Specifically the Chattanooga Meth Lab Explosion.

I think that (with the exception of Bonnaroo) all of the best shows I've seen have been in bars.

If we're talking about really long Dylan songs, I'm partial to "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" But if we're just talking in general, it's gotta be "It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train to Cry"

You gotta check out The Delmore Brothers. They do a very similar style ("close singing") to The Louvin Brothers, but they are even better somehow. And they're from Alabama as well.
