Yep, agree with that last part (and speaking as a fairly strong atheist). Atheism doesn't make someone magically more rational/smarter/less susceptible to bad ideologies than the next guy.
I've definitely seen the argument from certain evangelicals that Stalin is somehow representative of atheism, or the logical end

I don't understand this mantle of collectivist atheism to feel the need to fight the simple human truth that some atheists are pieces of shit.

String literals.

I think it's fair to say that personality cults have many of the trappings of religion. That doesn't make Stalinism (or Communism) a theology.

Oh yeah — to be clear, it's a stupid argument.

Christian fundamentalists often cite him as an example of why "atheism is just another religion."

Haven't seen The Aristocrats, love Norm MacDonald. To me, that clip (which is great!) shows the difference between a slow buildup that's funny in its own right and then makes the bathetic ending even funnier, versus Oswald beating a dead horse for 54 tweets.

I'm more struck by:

I'm enjoying it — I like the artwork. Some reviews have complained that the story is slow, but I don't find that to be the case, at least in trade format.

But it was obvious where it was going from the 1st tweet. He didn't need the next 50. The punchline was pretty good, tho'.

Yeah - that's a great way to put it.

you take a comedy show too seriously

I understand some of the backlash against SJWs, but is the new orthodoxy that *all* jokes are defensible?

Ph'nglui mglw'nafh

Andrea Dworkin libel!

Ha ha! Great minds, or some kind of minds anyway.

Mitt Romney?

"And this offends you as a Jewish person."
"No, it offends me as a comedian!"

Except Jed Bartlett was never a realistic portrayal of the presidency. More like a feverish liberal wet dream. (And I say that as a feverish liberal.)

Wow - that's amazing! "I guess we're doing this backwards."
