BSG is very much worth watching and I really enjoyed it at the time. Much of that comes from the breathless pace and way it keeps messing with expectations though. Once you know what happens (and that's not just a crack at the finale) I'm not sure that it has a lot of rewatch value.

I'll second (third?) that. When I saw it at the cinema having never watched Firefly, I didn't get the impression that Book was a regular cast member.
