Maybe you're confusing with the eerily similar chauffeur-youngest daughter affair in the new Upstairs Downstairs. They got it on in his little room.

Yes, emphatically. I adore Mary. She's a flawed, feisty heroine, a la Elizabeth Bennet. What's not to love?

I know, that's why I said "accidentally." I'm totally a Daisy fan, don't worry. Glad you liked the review. It was a fun episode to cover, that's for sure.

Too funny! Yeah, it definitely occurred to me at some point that she is very "Melanie" and Mary is a milder version of Scarlett. This show is basically sewn together from parts of about 20 other period dramas (I mean that in a good way) and it's fun to try to identify all the allusions.

Lavinia is very reminiscent of Melanie from "Gone With The Wind."

Good call. There was a lot of Gingriching/Edwardsing in this episode, wasn't there?

I think you're talking about the last episode!

ALERT! ALERT! I just realized that some of my review from last night accidentally got deleted (because I am a chimp who is only marginally better with technology than the Dowager Countess). For those of you who care, just wanted to give you a heads up. I don't want you to think I didn't have a whole lot to say about

The two missing paragraphs should be back now. I found them this morning on my front doorstep, in a little wicker basket.

Whoops. Thanks for catching. And also understanding what I meant even with the typo.

Thanks for noticing. It somehow disappeared in the uploading process. Don't ask me how.

Yes, that was Grantham. The way I listed it doesn't make that clear, though. Sorry, I'll fix.

He was. I actually wondered if they have "sad Matthew" make-up.

Glad to hear you liked my Playboy Club reviews. How I miss that gleaming turd of a show.

I also think it's interesting how much you can like the same comedies but like them for different reasons, have different favorite characters, etc. (I'm thinking especially of 30 Rock. Everyone loves Jack but Jenna, Tracy, etc are much more divisive characters.) Again, the same can't really be said of drama. Everybody

You're right, though. In my experience, comedy really is more subjective than drama. At least that's my opinion. (See what I did there?)

Nice.

Are you kidding? I literally cannot wait for this.

THIS!! It's the constant back and forth for no reason and with no forward movement. For some reason it reminds me of that scene in Austin Powers where he's trying to make the three-point turn and he just keeps slamming into the wall. http://www.youtube.com/watc…

I have a feeling this is one of those categories, like supporting versus lead performances, that is subject to interpretation/strategic placement.
