Chronologically, the Enterprise episode with the surviving Borg from First Contact was when we met them, but after that the Borg were beginning to show up in our side of the galaxy (the mission Romulan and Federation colonies, Voyager makes it seem like some ships went missing too).

I definitely remember watching this the first time and being in tears after the shock scene.

I can agree with that. That's why I think if they continue- which I hope they do- they need someone pretty much in the Henry roll to take the focus. It might even be interesting to have a non-actor, maybe just some guy needing a job, take the job and add something else to the series.

New Characters/Focus for Season 3
I could see Ron being the focus for Season 3, but not Roman. Roman works better as is, these brief moments of hilarity and not the sole focus for each episode. I'm not trying to knock Martin Starr, he's a great actor.
